Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 28, 2026

Thriftr collects only what it needs to work, and never sells your data. Here's the whole picture in plain language.

What we collect

Your email and password (for signing in), your profile (name, username, home city, optional photo and bio), the content you post (find photos, comments, wishlist wants, messages), and — if you turn on notifications — a push subscription for your device. We also keep basic records like when content was created.

How it's used

To run the app: showing your posts to the people you chose, matching wishlist wants to finds, sending the notifications you enabled, and keeping the community safe. Your home city sets your default view of nearby finds. That's it — no ads, no selling data, no tracking across other sites.

Who processes it

Your data lives with our service providers: Supabase (database and storage, hosted in Canada), Vercel (app hosting), Google Places (when you search for a store or city), and OpenAI (find photos are analyzed briefly to prefill the listing details — they aren't used to train AI models). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.

Cookies

One kind: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. No ad or analytics cookies.

Your rights

You can see and edit your profile in the app, and delete your own posts anytime. To get a copy of your data, correct something, or delete your account entirely, email us and we'll do it within 30 days. Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) applies.
